Another month is upon us - they go so quickly these days! When we first started this journey to Malawi, a year sounded like such a long time to get things together and ready to go...but as months start clicking by, we are realizing how little time is actually left.
In the last month on the Malawi prep side, we put our home on the market and just over 2 weeks later, we are entering Escrow. We praise the Lord for His wisdom and guidance during this process, as well as His sustaining grace. The decision to sell didn't leave us a lot of time to prep for Open Houses, but God has been kind to us and given much grace (and coffee!) to keep us going even when we were tired. We are thankful for His provision of a buyer, but it is bittersweet to leave this home. We moved in when we had ONE 18month old child. Since then, we have brought 4 kids home to this house and cared for many others...this home has many happy memories for us and we are so thankful for the 8 years the Lord allowed us to live here.
On the home front, we started school mid August and are starting our 4th week on Monday. To say there has been a learning curve for me (Brianne) is an understatement. There are a lot of great things about having our kids' ages so close...but having 3-n0n-readers in a homeschool environment can be a challenge. We are all learning what works at home and starting to fall into a rhythm with our schooling days. We thank the Lord for allowing us to be together as a family, and for the flexibility it provides us. We think this will come in handy this year as we prepare for Malawi. We were also reminded what a blessing it is that homeschooling will not be another transition for our kids in Malawi - since we already homeschool them, at least that part of life will feel pretty normal to them.
In addition to school, we also started our soccer season. This is a very fun time for our family since all 5 kids play soccer and Matt coaches two of the teams. This is one of our primary opportunities to build relationships for the sake of the gospel on top of just being a great source of exercise and fun!
S is also for...supplication! Would you pray with us in the following ways?
How can we be praying for you?? We would love to pray for you as well, please send us a note so we can be praying for the things God is doing in your lives too!
