Thanks for your continued prayers! There has been so much going on and we can't wait to give you a more full update when time permits. But for now...
A lot has happened at our house in the last couple of weeks. There were more repairs needed than we had originally expected. Outside, the trees are getting trimmed and the ground is getting prepped for grass when the rains come. And our driveway got paved.
Inside, we've got all of the electrical fixed and have a lot of plumbing in place. We also painted all the bedrooms and the kitchen. Today, some of our appliances that we bought here were delivered. And we did a lot of cleaning...ALOT of cleaning :-).
And the Container...
Our container arrived in Tanzania on August 5th. For over a week I had been emailing trying to get updates on when it might arrive. Finally, on Monday I started getting responses to all my emails. Then the big surprise: our container was in Malawi and on its way to Lilongwe! And now, Lord willing, it will be delivered at our house tomorrow afternoon. We are very excited to get to unload our stuff and start setting up our house.
I (Matt) have had the privilege of preaching the last two Sundays at IBF Church. I will not be preaching this coming Sunday, but the following Sunday I will be starting a series on the book of 1 Peter. It has been a joy to spend time with our new church family, getting to know them. We can't wait to have our house set up and start inviting people over.
CAPA started with a Greek class last week. The rest of the classes begin starting Monday. This semester my teaching load will revolve mostly around preaching labs and discipleship labs.
Not doubt you can guess what some of our prayer requests are...but we've included specifics in the box below and we would great appreciate your prayers!
We are thanking and praising the Lord for answered prayer:
God's (quick!) provision of Matt's TEP (visa)
The arrival of our container in Malawi
The graciousness of the Floreens to host us while we get our house ready
God's care for our family during this time of transition
God's faithful and un-ending love for us in Christ
We would love your prayers in the following ways:
That we would walk closely with the Lord, finding our joy in Him each day.
That our container would get the final approval to be unloaded tomorrow and that it would not incur any fees.
That we would have wisdom as we balance a lot of ongoing house repairs/renovations along with moving in and ministry.
For strength and wisdom as we set up our home once the container is unloaded.
For grace and wisdom as ministry at IBF and CAPA ramps up.
For God's provision of some additional monthly support due to some unexpected changes in our funding.
That we would quickly build relationships with those both inside the church and outside.
For our children - first and foremost that they would love the Lord - but also that they would transition well to life here in Malawi.
For IBF Church in Malawi as they prepare for the transitions ahead. Please pray that the members of the church would find their security in Christ.
For CAPA and the process of getting accredited
Thank you for your prayers! They means so much to us each day.
And we would love to hear from you! If you have a moment, feel free to reply to this email and let us know how you are doing and how we can pray for you. It would be our joy.
For His glory in Malawi,
Matt and Brianne
