Thank you for your continued prayer and support! Once again we've had another whirlwind of a month: moving out of our house, taking a trip to Washington, and prepping to leave. Through it all we have greatly appreciated your prayers and support and we are excited to catch you up on everything that has happened.
Many Updates all Wrapped Up in One
At the end of the month of June, we packed up the rest of our belongings and moved out of our rental house and into Brianne's mom's house. The day we finished moving out, we also left for Spokane, Washington for one last visit with our friends, family, and supporters. But, before we left we rejoiced to receive 3 glorious packages in the mail: passports for Ellie, Zoe, and Josiah! Shortly afterward we received back all of the original documents we had to mail in to get the passports. We praise the Lord for His kindness!
While in Spokane we enjoyed wonderful time with both of our families.
Here is a picture of the kids with Matt's parents in Riverfront Park:
Our first Sunday in Spokane we had the privilege of sharing about Malawi at Christ Our Hope Bible Church (http://www.cohbc.org/), one of our wonderful supporting churches. It was such a blessing to get to worship with the body and share about all that God is doing in Malawi.
We had a great time celebrating the forth of July with the Matt's family and Brianne's Grandma Lola:
Many of you had been praying for a new home from our little dog, Kona. Kona now lives with Brianne's Aunt Sue and is happily enjoying life in the Pacific Northwest, including fishing:
It was a joy to see both of Matt's brothers and their families while we were in Spokane. All of the cousins enjoyed playing together.
After tearful goodbyes in Spokane we returned to CA for our last couple of weeks state-side. We celebrated one big "birthday" party for all of the kids and were blessed to have many of our dear friends join us for the fun:
The next couple of weeks we will be enjoying our time with our friends, family, and church family. Our send off service will be this Sunday at Faith Bible Church (http://www.faithbibleoc.org/). If you are in the Orange County area we would love to have you come join us!
As for the other updates: a lot happened while we were in Spokane! We officially reached all of our support raising minimums both for out-going expenses and monthly support. We praise God for His incredible provision and we cannot express our gratitude to all of you who are supporting us regularly through your prayers and financial support! Also, we signed a lease on a house in Malawi....so we officially have a place to live when we get there (well, once we get it all set cleaned up and set in order :-)). Finally, we bought our plane tickets! We leave from Los Angeles next Friday, July 29th. We will be in New York for 2 days before we continue on to Malawi, arriving August 2nd.
When we arrive in Malawi we will be staying with our dear friends and co-laborers in the gospel Matt and Rachel Floreen. Our container has officially been delayed and is now scheduled to arrive a week or two after us. Matt's first Sunday preaching will be August 14.
Update on Our Financial Support
As I mentioned before, we have hit our minimum goals for out-going expenses as well as our monthly support. God is so good and we are reminded that He always provides all that we need to follow His will. Thank you all for your support and prayers.
If it is a still in your heart contribute financially to the work in Malawi, we are anticipating that we will have additional expenses that we didn't plan for and we are also beginning to save money toward a second car.
Again, we want to thank everyone who has prayed for us and has donated toward our expenses. It is such a picture to us of God's grace and love shining through you all for His glory! We are humbled to get to have a front row seat to see what He is doing!
We are thanking and praising the Lord for answered prayer:
Passports for our three adopted kiddos
Precious time with our family and freinds in Spokane
God's provision of a house in Malawi
God's provision of plane tickets
God's provision of financial support
God's faithful and un-ending love for us in Christ
We would love your prayers in the following ways:
That we would walk closely with the Lord, finding our joy in Him each day.
That the government of Malawi would quickly process Matt's Temporary Employment Permit (TEP) that he needs to work in the country.
That our container would not be delayed any further, would make it through customs quickly, and would not incur any fees.
For our last bit of time with family, friends, and church family in California before we go.
For gospel opportunities as we talk with unbelievers about leaving for Malawi.
That God would be preparing our hearts, our bodies, and our family for this big move.
For our children - first and foremost that they would love the Lord - but also that we would parent them with consistency and grace during this transition time.
For IBF Church in Malawi as they prepare for the transitions ahead. Please pray that the members of the church would find their security in Christ.
For CAPA and the process of getting accredited
Thank you for your prayers! I know we say this over and over, but our hearts overflow with gratitude as you stand before the throne of grace and intercede on our behalf each day. We look forward to rejoicing with you as God answers them.
And we would love to hear from you! If you have a moment, and especially if we haven't seen you recently, feel free to reply to this email and let us know how you are doing and how we can pray for you. It would be our joy.
For His glory in California and Malawi,
Matt and Brianne
